QUAICH:
The word 'Quaich' is derived from the Gaelic word 'cuach', which means 'shallow cup'. It originated in the highlands and became the favourite drinking cup of Scotland.
Traditionally they are used when offering a guest 'the cup of welcome' and then again when leaving for a farewell drink.
The simple but pleasing distinctive design of the Quaich
has been unchanged for centuries. It is a shallow bowl with two handles, colloquially known as 'lugs'.
These beautifully engraved, hand made pewter examples feature traditional Celtic knot designs, along with the 'Flora Scotica' design. They come in two sizes 4' and 3', and do make excellent gifts or keepsakes for anyone with a connection to
Scotland.
